The Performance Group (TPG) is getting ready for its busiest time of year – that middle summer month when hundreds of MINI cars are unleashed onto U.S. roads for a cross-country road-rally. As a corporate event logistics company, TPG is used to managing several moving parts at once, but MTTS always brings extra challenges and excitement. “MTTS happens every other year. Each time, we carve out a different route,” explained Ray Brown, TPG’s Executive on the account. “From the parking lot breakfast send-offs to big city parties with talent and buzzing press coverage, MTTS is all about building a community.” And it seems this community of drivers is passionate about their MINIs. From stick-on MINI tattoos to customized car accessories, you can spot an MTTS participant just by their enthusiasm. There’s even a radio podcast, White Roof Radio, streaming live to keep the fleet of drivers dialed-in and on track.
And this road-rally is not just for the two-legged types. MTTS is notorious for its doggy co-pilots. “TPG’s sourcing person has to negotiate pet-friendly hotel contracts all the way from SF to Boston. She’s become an expert at garnering canine concessions.” Many have seen the bulldog, MTTS’ unofficial mascot, in recent commercials, and would be happy to know that the event charity partner is Best Friends Animal Society.
While every MTTS generates tremendous buzz, this year promises to be exceptional. “We’ve seen so much excitement and anticipation from the MINI community online and on our social channels that we really hope this year’s MINI TAKES THE STATES sets a new record,” said David Duncan, Vice President MINI of the Americas. Caryn Grun, MINI Events Manager, agrees. “Every MTTS journey is unique, and it’s an exciting challenge trying to create a new motoring experience each time,” she explained. “This year’s response has been overwhelming, and our MINI owner’s anticipation remains palpable as we get closer to kick off day.”
There you have it. MTTS is about building a community, being kind to animals, and reviving the romance of the open road. What more is there to say about MINI’s exceptional road-rally? So keep your eyes peeled from July 26 - August 10, and if you see a fleet of smiling MINI drivers on the road, give them a honk and a wave as they make their way across the U.S. And who knows? Maybe next year, you’ll be ready to unleash your MINI! http://www.minitakesthestates.com/welcome
