For the third straight year, Maple Leaf Farms has earned a certification through the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI). Recognition as a GFSI institution is accomplished through a comprehensive benchmarking process in food safety management systems, which are designed to ensure the delivery of safe food to consumers worldwide.

“At Maple Leaf Farms, our number one priority is ensuring the quality and safety of our products,” said Co-President John Tucker. “Although achieving GFSI certification is not required, it reinforces to our customers that we are committed to manufacturing and handling our products in the safest manner possible.”

To earn the GFSI certification, Maple Leaf Farms operations had to undergo an audit by an independent third party team. The audit followed the British Retail Consortium (BRC) technical standards that specify requirements that ensure the production, packaging, storage and distribution of safe food and consumer products.
