EXIT Realty Keystone Helping Children Get Adopted
Morgan Hill, CA (PRWEB) November 01, 2016 -- Margaret Vierra, Broker of EXIT Realty Keystone, in light of National Adoption Month is helping raise awareness about the need for adoptive families for older youth in foster care via a GoFundMe account to raise money for the Kinship Center in San Jose, CA. “Every year, more than 100,000 children and youth in the U.S. foster care system seek permanent families,” said Vierra. “Having permanent family connections is critical for children to have legal and emotional support as they transition into adulthood and strive for achievement, growth, and well-being.”
National Adoption Month is an initiative sponsored by the Children’s Bureau, in partnership with AdoptUSKids and Child Welfare Information Gateway. Each November, National Adoption Month brings awareness to the needs of children and youth seeking and waiting a “forever family.” This year, specific attention is being paid to the needs of the thousands of older youth, ages 15–18, who face the challenges of aging out of foster care and beginning their independent, young adult lives.
“My top agents, JC Bustillos, Edgar Meneses, Connie Martin, Darryl Johnson and Dianna Yang-Dinnino, are pleased to participate in this funding campaign,” said Vierra. “Our newest agent, Mikaela Rojas, is a foster parent herself and knows first-hand about the importance of foster care and adoption of older children prior to them aging out of the system.”
Getting the message out about the needs of older youth and their desire for a stable, secure family life is very personal for Vierra, who is one of 13 children born in the Azores Islands, Portugal. Shortly after both her parents suddenly passed, Vierra and her youngest siblings were adopted into several different homes in California. After temporarily living in an orphanage, Vierra enjoyed a great sense of family, and learned the importance of having roots and a forever home. This feeling of “home” is what propelled her into real estate. Knowing that her own identity was influenced by her adoptive family and her surroundings, Vierra devotes herself to helping all types of families and cultures find their perfect homes. With agents speaking Portuguese, Chinese, Spanish and Farsi, they are able to accommodate many cultures.
