Jacksonville, FL (PRWEB) August 02, 2016 -- Due to the upcoming August 30 primary election, attorney Mark B. MacLean, who is running for Florida House of Representatives District 12, recently talked about his political platform. Running for State Representative is taking to a higher level what MacLean, a Republican and ninth-generation Floridian, has been doing for the past twenty years as a community leader and public servant.
“One of my greatest concerns is with public education. I have been very involved in fighting for the support and empowerment of parents, in both school curriculum choice and in school enrollment choice,” said MacLean, a graduate of Jacksonville’s Englewood High School, the University of North Florida and Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law. “I’m a strong advocate for local decision-making in all aspects of government. I believe in putting parents, teachers and taxpayers in control.”
Furthermore, MacLean wants to promote new economic development for Jacksonville, and is in favor of reducing the taxation and regulatory burdens on small businesses. “We must free up entrepreneurs to innovate and to create new jobs,” he added. “We also need to provide training and courses at all levels of education - kindergarten through college - that will help prepare our young people for the high-technology, high-wage jobs of the 21st century.”
When asked why he is running for office, MacLean said, “The bottom line is I love my hometown of Jacksonville, I love Florida and I love my three children, and am concerned for all their futures. I want to fight to preserve the best of what we have been given, what we know works and what we know is good, while seeking to make positive changes to what we know isn’t working for small businesses, parents, students, taxpayers and for all citizens. I’m doing this in order to help make Jacksonville and Florida the best they can be, not only for ourselves but, more importantly, for our children.”
