AWE Partners with Meadowview Elementary School in DeKalb County to Establish a Blended Learning Environment for Kindergarten Students
Chester, PA (PRWEB) September 26, 2013 -- AWE, Inc., provider of digital learning solutions for PreK-Grade 3, has partnered with Meadowview Elementary School in Georgia (DeKalb County School District) to create a blended learning environment in kindergarten classrooms at the school. As part of the implementation, Meadowview has equipped their kindergarten classrooms with AWE’s Student Learning Center™ solution, including touchscreen computers. This is the first phase of a three-year implementation to create a fully integrated K-3 blended learning environment.
Kindergarten classrooms will incorporate digital learning into the daily activities of young students. Teachers will direct student activities, monitor progress, and continually assess individual student needs.
AWE and Meadowview are in the midst of a professional development program that is providing instruction for the school’s teachers on AWE’s workstations, its online management system for teachers, and an overall blended learning strategy.
“The AWE Student Learning Center computers are very interactive and students love them. We have been pleased with how they have enhanced our elementary classroom learning,” says Norman H. Thomas, Jr., Principal of Meadowview Elementary School. “Our goal is to establish a sound blended learning plan in the kindergarten classes first, and then migrate it to the next grade levels.”
The Student Learning Center uniquely supports Prescriptive, Collaborative, and Explorative learning with an unparalleled collection of assignable digital content.
“We are thrilled to work with Mr. Thomas, a true thought leader and innovator in elementary education. Digital learning tools such as the Student Learning Center can help deliver a personalized, engaging education experience to young students. The students can work on subjects individually at their own pace or collaboratively with others. Our goal is to use digital learning to help teachers develop and realize each student’s potential,” states Karl Thornton, President and CEO of AWE.
