One in five Medicare patients is readmitted to the hospital within thirty days, in which half of them are non-adherent. In addition, 125,000 deaths each year are attributed to adherent related causes.

Post Falls, ID (PRWEB) February 03, 2014

Since the implementation of the MedPax in the final quarter of 2013, Medicine Man Pharmacy has received quite a positive response from the patients, as well as the doctor’s offices. The MedPax system is not only saving time for the patients, caregivers and doctor’s offices, but with more patients taking their medications correctly, there are less patients going back into hospitals after being discharged.

“MedPax is designed to help our patients take their medications properly, therefore avoiding side effects from improper usage and resulting in fewer trips to the pharmacy and hospitals. Less time is spent organizing medications each month by patients and caregivers,” said Medicine Man Pharmacy owner Don Smith. “One in five Medicare patients is readmitted to the hospital within thirty days, in which half of them are non-adherent. In addition, 125,000 deaths each year are attributed to adherent related causes.”

The Medicine Man MedPax technology builds custom strips with the dates, days and times the medications are to be taken. With so many patients taking multiple medications, MedPax takes out the guesswork of when to take medication, taking into account many variables, such as interactions for multiple prescriptions at one time, does one take it with or without food or is morning or night best.
