Melanie Jett offers readers real-life glimpse of high school
SALEM, W.Va. (PRWEB) December 05, 2014 -- Author Melanie Jett tells a relatable story for teens in her new young adult novel, “The Clearing” (published by AuthorHouse).
“‘The Clearing’ was written when I was 14,” says Jett. “Young girls will be able to relate to it because it was written by someone in their age group.”
Set in small-town West Virginia, “The Clearing” follows the ups and downs in the life of Aleah Morgan, a high school junior navigating her way through the challenges of adolescent relationships.
Two boys have their sights set on Aleah, but one of them has a dark secret. When that secret is revealed, the other boy will stop at nothing to save Aleah, the girl he loves. As the story progresses, it becomes apparent that he may have to sacrifice everything to save her.
“So many teenage girls are willing to give everything up for a relationship with a boy,” Jett says. “They accept bad treatment for a few moments of feeling special. It’s important for young girls to realize that they don’t have to accept abuse; they deserve respect.”
