“Anger was a big part of my life. I was angry at God, my mother, my father, my brother, and so many other people. I was even angry that I existed. It upsets me to think how angry I was. I was angry about the circumstances into which I was born. How can God create a person and send him or her into the world with abusive and neglectful parents? I often wondered, 'Why is this happening to me? What did I do to deserve this?' It was truly upsetting. I did know that anger was getting the better of me; I lost a lot because I often expressed my anger in destructive ways. But I also believe that everything happens for a reason. I had to get angry in order to learn to love myself. I had to love myself and learn that anger wasn’t a part of me.”
