The Misdemeanor Clinic, P.A., a law firm focused on misdemeanor law, is pleased to announce the opening of its offices in Boca Raton, Florida. The firm represents clients with all types of misdemeanors, including DUI's, drug possession, alcohol offenses, assault, and battery. Although misdemeanor offenses carry lighter penalties than felonies, those penalties can have long-lasting and life-altering consequences adversely affecting future career opportunities, financial aid, personal relationships, education applications, and professional licenses.

“The consequences of a conviction, whether a felony or a misdemeanor, will follow you for the rest of your life,” Michelle says. “If you have been charged with a misdemeanor, you are entitled to have your matter handled with expertise, high priority, and special attention.”

While Michelle has a broad base of experience that encompasses all aspects of criminal law, she has chosen to focus her practice on misdemeanors and expungements. “My experience has shown me that misdemeanor cases are routinely not given the priority they deserve,” Michelle explains. “I feel a need to advocate for these clients with a high level of personal service and attention.”

Expungements are also important as while many criminal cases can be brought to a desirable resolution, a favorable outcome does not remove the arrest from a record. An arrest in a permanent record can cause just as many – if not more – problems as the original charges. Expungement, or sealing, offers an alternative to lifelong stress when completing background checks and applications.

Michelle Merson, Esq. obtained her juris doctor degree at Nova Southeastern University School of Law in 1992. Working side-by-side with a prominent criminal defense attorney for the past ten years, she has been involved with virtually every type of criminal defense case. “I am committed to taking great care of each of my clients,” Michelle says. “I grew up in the South, where compassion, warmth and taking the time to listen to others is second nature. I bring those values to bear on my relationships with my clients."

Though the majority of her cases are in Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties, where she has significant relationships with judges and prosecutors, she has effectively represented clients throughout Florida with favorable resolutions. Michelle strives for instant accessibility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and provides same-day response to most inquiries.
