MorganFranklin Consulting CEO C.E. Andrews Receives 2016 Leukemia & Lymphoma Society James L. Eichberg Lifetime Achievement Award

Andrews, CEO of D.C.-area business consulting and technology solutions company MorganFranklin Consulting, was presented with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) 2016 James L. Eichberg Lifetime Achievement Award at the 29th Annual Leukemia Ball on Saturday, March 12. Andrews was honored at the premier black-tie event for his more than 29 years of dedication and commitment to the mission of LLS, making a significant impact on the lives of patients and families. Founded in 1949, LLS is the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer, with a mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. The annual Leukemia Ball is one of the largest charitable events in the D.C. metro region, raising $3.2 million this year to bring the total raised for LLS to more than $55 million.

Eichberg Lifetime Achievement Award,” said Andrews. “I am proud to say that Jim was a friend, and I have long admired his tremendous contributions to LLS and zeal for inspiring others to support this organization’s lifesaving research and outreach. For years, before one of these terrible diseases tragically claimed his own life, Jim gave selflessly and exhibited extraordinary dedication to support the LLS mission. I am not sure if I deserve to be placed in such high esteem, but I hope that my efforts with LLS over the years have had a positive impact on the lives of those battling blood cancers and that this award inspires the next generation of volunteers to open new doors to support LLS and empower those around them to give back to their communities and achieve a future without blood cancers.”
Past recipients of the James L. Eichberg Lifetime Achievement Award include the McLaughlin family (2015), Bobby Mitchell (2014), Tamara Darvish (2013), and Kevin Fay (2012). The award was established in memory of Eichberg, a long-time volunteer and supporter of LLS who made service to others an integral part of his daily life.
Andrews has been an active champion of the LLS mission since helping to plan the inaugural Leukemia Ball in 1988. Over the years, he has supported LLS at the highest levels and led numerous fundraising efforts that have raised more than $6 million to support blood cancer research and patient programs. As Co-Chair of the Leukemia Ball in 2000 and Chair in 2001, Andrews helped lay the foundation for the event to become one of the largest non-political black-tie events in Washington, D.C. He chaired an individual giving campaign in 2012 that raised more than $270,000 for LLS and, in 2015, he served as Chair of a local initiative to raise $1 million to fund an LLS partnership with Celator Pharmaceuticals and accelerate the most promising new treatment for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in more than 30 years.

Since 2013, Andrews has served as CEO of MorganFranklin Consulting, a firm with its own long-standing history of supporting LLS. A veteran of the consulting and financial services industries, Andrews’ support of LLS has spanned his professional career in his previous roles as President of RSM McGladrey, Inc.; President, CEO, CFO, and Executive Vice President at SLM Corporation/Sallie Mae; and Global Managing Partner for the Worldwide Audit and Business Advisory Practice at Arthur Andersen LLP, where he worked in numerous leadership roles for nearly 30 years. In addition to his work with LLS and numerous professional boards, Andrews serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Global Good Fund and has worked in a variety of roles with Junior Achievement of Greater Washington for more than 15 years, including serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors in 2010 and helping to open the first JA Finance Park® youth financial literacy center in Fairfax, Virginia.
The 2016 Leukemia Ball, presented by PhRMA, was held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and featured musical entertainment by Barenaked Ladies and a comedic performance by Kathleen Madigan.
