Morris Furniture Co., Inc., and PNC Bank to Provide Injured Veteran with Furniture for New Home
Fairborn, OH (PRWEB) July 14, 2015 -- Morris Furniture Co., Inc., a top quality furniture company located in Cincinnati, Fairborn and Dayton, OH, is pleased to announce that they will provide furniture for an injured veteran’s new home.
Marine Cpl Joshua Sams, who served the U.S. in Afghanistan, was critically injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast. He suffered severe injuries to his legs, arms and pelvis. After he was flown to Germany, Sams was fitted with prosthetic legs and endured months of rehabilitation. He said that he plans to continue serving the U.S. by completing a criminal justice degree program that he started before entering the military.
Sams received a newly constructed and handicapped-accessible home in Wilmington, Ohio, through the generosity of Homes for Our Troops, an organization that builds new homes for injured veterans. A special dedication ceremony took place on May 30 and Sams received keys to this beautiful new home.
“When we heard that this family was receiving a brand new home without furniture, we knew had to help them,” said Morris president and chief executive officer Larry Klaben. “It’s part of our company mission to ‘Make Homes Great,’ especially for someone who sacrificed so much for our country. I’m happy to welcome Josh into his new home and honored to be able to help him furnish this beautiful new home.”
“Knowing for certain in a world of uncertainty that I would have a roof over my head brought peace of mind,” Sams shared on the Homes for Troops website.
VFW Huber Heights Memorial Post 3283 is assisting with this project. Commander Arthur (Butch) Hanson and Post Members are reaching out to members of the community to raise money for Josh.
Morris and PNC Bank are asking the community to help by making a donation for Josh at a PNC Bank branch. As a top furniture store in Dayton OH, Morris is proud to match every dollar raised for Josh -- up to $12,500 -- in hopes of giving $25,000 in new contemporary furniture, mattresses and accessories. The furniture will be provided from Morris Furniture Co., Inc. showrooms Morris Home Furnishings, Ashley Furniture HomeStore and the Better Sleep Shop.
Contributions can be made at any PNC Member Center or by mail to VFW Post 3283 Joshua Sams Fund, PNC Bank, 1373 Rombach Ave. Wilmington, Ohio, 45177.
