So, when she decided to keep Ripley – a cat – her view on life exploded into the cosmos. “Lessons by Ripley: Or rather... Spiritual Lessons from a cat!” (published by AuthorHouse) is a collection of lessons that were shown to her through Ripley that she wishes to express to readers.
“‘Lessons by Ripley’ is a book about everyday circumstances that many people may go through but, through my book, they see them in a different way – a spiritual way,” says Hilliard. “Everything happens for a reason. This book enables one to see and evaluate alternate reasons for what we experience in life.”

“‘You’re still SINGLE! …a phrase I really hated to hear! As a young Christian woman of 43 years old, ‘You’re single’ was a phrase I thought I would not still be hearing! Why? Because, like other ‘single’ women, I literally had my life mapped out for myself. You see, I was saved practically from birth—or so my mother felt I was. In actuality, though, I received Christ in my life at the age of 12 and I was totally involved in the things of Christ throughout all of my life. However, my life plans were as follows: Get saved… age 12, Complete high school… age 17, Go to Hiram College… age 17, Get my BA degree in English/Law… age 21, Work for the government for 3 years to save money for law school… age 24, Enter CWRU Law School and graduate… age 28, Get married… age 30, Have twin girls… age 31, Maybe one son…age 32, And live life happily ever after with the love of my life!! You see… it was all mapped out!”

Johnnie Lynette Hilliard was born in San Antonio, but grew up in Cleveland. Literature and art were always her interests and she grew up writing poetry, stories and drawing to express herself. She graduated from Hiram College with an English degree and decided to follow her dream and embark on a writing career.
