Celebration of Flexible Work Arrangements Week Prompts Author to Release New Book on New Career Trend
INDIANAPOLIS, IN (PRWEB) May 05, 2015 -- Flextime, part time, full time, compressed, telecommuting, intra-/entrepreneurship, and job sharing: the world of work is complicated. However, in honor of the celebration of Flexible Work Arrangements Week, May 3-9, 2015, Dr. Erin L. Albert celebrates those who dare to challenge the traditional forty-hour workweek by releasing her ninth book studying nontraditional work arrangements, 'Multipationals'.
“Many of my friends with the most fascinating careers right now don’t work one traditional full time job for only one employer anymore,” according to Albert, who runs her own companies and teaches at Butler University as an associate professor of pharmacy. “The most interesting creative souls I call ‘multipationals,’ or professionals that have multiple jobs simultaneously. People with 3, 4 or even 9 jobs are interesting to watch, because they are everywhere professionally, hyper-network, and create some of the most innovative projects, products and services. They also have increased career stability for themselves through this arrangement.”
Albert thinks the traditional workweek is dead. “Many of my friends have been laid off, downsized or right sized from corporate America in the last economic downturn. Rather than return to big corporation and put all their career eggs in one basket, multipationals took a wiser, and in some respects safer road—by working several different jobs (either for others, or themselves or both) to create more stability and a richer and more flexible career portfolio. I want to help others achieve their best career portfolios.”
'Multipationals' looks at several professionals who are currently managing portfolio careers, with multiple employers. As well, Albert experimented with her own career for this project. Last, the book summarizes what Albert sees as trends or commonalities between the multipationals in the book. The book is now available on several ebook platforms through publisher eBookIt.com: https://www.ebookit.com/books/0000004242/Multipationals-The-Changing-World-of-Work-and-How-to-Create-Your-Best-Career-Portfolio.html The multipational movement and book also has a Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Multipationals, and the official hashtag for this project is: #Multipationals, and more on the author is at: http://www.erinalbert.com.
