Michael Strahan to Keynote as National Apartment Association Education Conference & Exposition Arrives in San Francisco, June 15-18, 2016
San Francisco, Ca. / Arlington, Va. (PRWEB) June 07, 2016 -- The 2016 National Apartment Association (NAA) Education Conference & Exposition is heading to San Francisco for the first time next week (June 15-18), bringing almost 10,000 apartment industry professionals to the city by the bay.
The industry provides housing for nearly a third of all Americans and is going through a number of exciting changes. Technology is changing the face of the industry, millennials are demanding to be close to where they work and play, and there has been a recent boom in rental interest driven by Baby Boomers looking to downsize.
Riding the wave of this excitement, the conference, held at the Moscone Convention Center, will feature talks from Netflix Co-founder Marc Randolph; Amy Curtis-McIntyre, former CMO of Airbnb; and David Rose of MIT Media Lab. Additionally, television personality and former NFL great Michael Strahan will deliver a keynote address, discussing life beyond football in business and broadcasting.
From an industry education perspective, the NAA helps prepare apartment owners, managers and other staff for a dynamic future. There will be more than 450 suppliers exhibiting new products and services and 65 education sessions covering the below (and more):
- Tech trends – From the Internet of Things, to smart homes, Airbnb, virtual reality and more, technology is making a massive impact in the industry

Doug Culkin, President and CEO said: “We’re excited to bring the NAA Education Conference and Exposition to San Francisco, a unique and dynamic rental market that has seen recent success for our industry and some of our most difficult challenges.
“The conference is all about learning. We want to continue to professionalize the apartment industry, which affects over 100 million US residents. We want our members to be prepared to react to the vast swaths of regulatory and business challenges they face every day.”
The conference is also home to the annual Maintenance Mania National Championship, a wild and wacky competition that celebrates the unsung heroes that keep toilets flushing and the lights on. MC'd by Major League Eating's George Shea, this year’s event will see 20 of the country’s best maintenance professionals battle it out American Ninja Warrior style in a series of timed, skill-based challenges to be crowned the National Maintenance Mania Champion.
Overall, the event will see the likes of Pinnacle, Apartments.com and WinnCompanies alongside almost 10,000 other apartment professionals, investors and service providers staying in the city. Beyond providing a boost to the local hospitality and leisure economy, the NAA hopes to serve the local homeless community by sharing all uneaten food and drink with local charities.
