The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Dr. Laura R. Slap-Shelton as a 2015-2016 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in mental health. As a Psychologist and Owner of a successful group practice, Dr. Laura Slap-Shelton works tirelessly to ensure her patients receive the care they need. By providing neuropsychological and psychological evaluations as well as psychotherapy services, this licensed psychologist helps children, adolescents and adults cope with a variety of emotional, developmental and neurological issues.
Providing information and increasing awareness of the needs of widows, particularly in developing countries, is an important focus of Dr. Slap-Shelton’s work. She actively works with the Guild For Service in India. She was an invited guest to the first United Nations International Widows Day and speaks on the issues concerning widows in developing countries and has hosted speakers in this area as well. Her website and Facebook both, GriefandRenewal.com, provide information about grief and information about the issues widows face. She also offers handmade jewelry and other products made by the widows in India through these sites.
A published author, Dr. Slap-Shelton has written a number of professional articles and children’s books, including Melissa’s Magic Ride, which helps children cope with grief.
