New York Personal Injury Lawyer David Perecman Offers Condolences to the Metro-North Train Derailment Victims
New York, New York (PRWEB) December 02, 2013 -- Personal injury lawyer David Perecman offers his condolences to the victims of the Metro-North train derailment in the Bronx and their families. Four people were killed and more than 60 were injured, 11 of whom are in critical condition, reported CBS News (12.1.13).
"My sincerest condolences go out to the survivors and the families and friends of the victims of the recent train derailment,” said Perecman, the founder of The Perecman Firm.
The Perecman Firm, one of New York’s accident law firms, has been successfully representing MTA injury victims for over 30 years.
According to CBS News, all seven of the train’s cars and it’s locomotive went off the tracks. The passenger train accident occurred along the curve at Spuyten Duyvil, where the speed limit drops from 70 mph down to 30. It was reported that at least one witness believed that the train was going faster than usual as it approached the curve.
A number of survivors had broken bones and/or head and neck injuries. Dozens were reported as being “bloodied and scratched” when they were taken off the derailed train. Ice packs were being used to ease the pain, reported CBS News.
“In New York accidents as major as this, the parties who avoided death or serious injury were lucky. However, there can often be long and painful recovery periods and severe financial repercussions associated with the derailment. These burdens should not be the full responsibility of those who were not responsible for the accident. New Yorkers injured in public transportation accidents can recover damages for their losses in a number of ways, including a personal injury lawsuit. These victims, as well as the families whose loved ones were killed, should fully understand their legal rights and obtain the maximum compensation for their injury and/or loss,” said Perecman.
Investigators combed the accident site and announced that they would probe everything from human performance and the condition of the tracks to the signaling systems and the brakes. Preliminary findings suggested that speed might have been the cause of the accident, reported CBS News. The black box should be able to confirm how fast the train was moving.
Lawyers at The Perecman Firm can streamline post-accident lawsuits and injury claims against the MTA, the Metro-North Rail Road, or another transportation system. There are special procedures that need to be followed in order to recover compensation from these public transportation agencies. An experienced lawyer may decrease the stress level as well as the financial hardship that may be incurred.
“The injured and their families need to focus on what really matters, and that is getting better,” said Perecman.
"My thoughts and prayers are with the survivors and the families and friends of the victims of the recent train derailment during this difficult time,” Perecman said. “We stand ready to help those in need as the causes of this accident are still being investigated.”
