David Perecman Weighs in on Harrison Ford Injury on ‘Star Wars’ Set
New York, New York (PRWEB) June 25, 2014 -- Harrison Ford, 71, suffered a leg injury that required surgery while he was working on the set of “Star Wars: Episode VII.” According to ABC News (6.19.14), Ford’s left leg was broken but now he is “doing well.”
ABC reported that the cause of the accident was believed to be a garage door.
Ford is reprising his role as Han Solo in the latest installment of the “Star Wars” franchise, said ABC News. Ford is among a number of original Star Wars cast members who are working on the film, set for release in December 2015.
Attorney at Law David Perecman understands that whether a person is a celebrity or not, when an accident occurs in a New York workplace, injured workers are all eligible for workers' compensation no matter who they are. All workers may also be able to sue outside of normal workers compensation routes by filing a third-person lawsuit.
A third-party lawsuit may help a worker obtain full and fair compensation for workplace injuries. Workers' compensation benefits are more limited, having been specifically intended to cover medical costs directly linked to the injury and loss of wages while the employee is unable to return to his or her job.
“In New York, employers are responsible for taking all reasonable measures to secure an employee’s safety on the job whether that employee earn $10 million a movie or $8 an hour,” said Perecman.
The accident involving Harrison Ford occurred at Pinewood Studios in Oxford, England.
