Nancy Rezendes Brings ‘Nancy’s Large Print Cookbook’ to the Table
Nantucket, Mass. (PRWEB) December 12, 2013 -- Nancy Rezendes offers vision impaired readers a valuable resource with the publication of her new book, “Nancy's Large Print Cookbook: Quick, Easy, and Delicious Recipes” (published by Trafford Publishing).
After being diagnosed with macular degeneration in 2004, Rezendes began having trouble reading cookbooks and recipes in magazines, which often used a small font. She was inspired to create a comprehensive resource to help people with vision loss maintain independence in the kitchen and began to compile the materials included in “Nancy’s Large Print Cookbook”.
With over 400 pages, “Nancy’s Large Print Cookbook” offers a wealth of information to readers. Rezendes organizes recipes gathered from family, friends and the backs and sides of boxes, jars and packages. Appetizers, bread, soup, salad, pasta, seafood and crock pot recipes are all featured. The book also includes a selection of inspirational quotes.
Rezendes uses her own experience to offer a selection of practical tips for vision impaired readers. Her advice includes:
• Wrap bright-colored tape about an inch wide around the handles of sharp knives
• Mark measuring cups with “bump dots” (raised peel and stick dots available in low vision catalogs and craft stores)
• Use wide mouth containers for flour, sugar, spices, etc. Felted peel and stick letters are good for labeling
