The Nelly Group, LLC Takes Action for Cybersecurity
New Lenox, IL (PRWEB) March 25, 2014 -- The past year has brought a shift in mindset recognizing that businesses need to adopt better cybersecurity measures. Even with increased awareness and preparation, major companies are still under cyber attack and the numbers continue to grow. Symantec reports that even after spending $46 billion on security, cyber-attacks increased by 42% last year.
The Nelly Group, LLC, a New Lenox based public relations and marketing firm, is taking a stand against hackers and shining a light on cybersecurity by promoting the upcoming Midwest Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (MWCCDC) at Moraine Valley Community College on March 28th and 29th. At this competition, two-year and four-year college and university students will build and defend a mock production business infrastructure from professional “hackers”. Teams will be judged on performance, scoring and supporting the overall event.
“These competitions give students real-world cybersecurity attack experience and businesses need to become aware of it,” states Lynn Dohm, President of The Nelly Group, “So many companies need fast-paced, quick-thinking, top-notch cybersecurity specialists and competitions such as the MWCCDC really tests those skills and produce amazing employees that are in high-demand.”
Sponsors at the MWCCDC will not only participate in a Career Fair/Speed Networking Event, they also get an opportunity to observe these cybersecurity teams “behind the scenes”. Tours of the competition allow recruiters to view teamwork skills, witness the competition in action and evaluate which team members to follow-up with personal interviews.
The Nelly Group started as a small PR firm supporting the National Center for Systems Security and Information Assurance (CSSIA) by promoting cybersecurity events but early-on, a virtual office was created to meet the growing needs of companies and organizations nationwide. The Nelly Group now promotes multiple competitions, cybersecurity trainings, events, and high technology sector conferences.
“My staff runs a significant amount of cybersecurity events and are often challenged with how to get the information to the target audience for each event,” states Erich Spengler, Director of CSSIA, “The Nelly Group provides communication solutions, whether it’s creating sizzle reels, news releases, flyers or producing sponsors for an event, no stone are left unturned.”
For the past two years, The Nelly Group has been bringing the public’s awareness to cybersecurity and high technology-related events in order to assist America in protecting its business infrastructures. For more information, visit nellygrp.com.
