New Beginnings Adolescent Recovery Center CEO Johnny Patout to Speak at 2014 West Coast Symposium on Addictive Disorders

The conference is held by C4 Recovery Solutions and takes place in La Quinta, California from May 29 until June 1.
Patout, a licensed clinical social worker, has worked in the field of addiction treatment for more than three decades. As a recovering addict with more than 30 years of sobriety, Patout is able to draw on his formal education, years of training and personal experiences.
Patout’s presentation titled, “The Hidden Dynamics of Addiction,” will explore the psychological aspects of addiction including the addict’s perception of self, how these dynamics impact their “window to the world” and how they influence continued drinking or drug use.
“Addiction is a disease that not only impacts the body, but the mind and the spirit as well,” said Patout. “Understanding addiction victims as a whole, as well as the specific psychological struggles that fuel their addiction leads to more effective treatment planning and lower relapse rates.”
