New Minimally Invasive Retraction Device, NovaGrasp™ Laparoscopic Tethered Grasper, Debuts at 43rd AAGL Global Congress on Minimally-Invasive Gynecology
Madison, Conn. (PRWEB) November 19, 2014 -- NovaTract Surgical, Inc., a venture-backed startup medical device company, unveils its second minimally invasive retraction device, the NovaGrasp™ Laparoscopic Tethered Grasper, at this week’s 43rd American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL) Global Congress on Minimally Invasive Gynecology in Vancouver, British Columbia.
The NovaGrasp™ Laparoscopic Tethered Grasper is a single-use device for tissue or organ retraction in minimally invasive surgical procedures. The Grasper Tip is made of stainless steel with an attached Tension Line of specially braided Polyethylene. Used intra-abdominally, the NovaGrasp™ secures tissue and organs to retract for improved visualization. Introduced via an existing port or percutaneously, the Grasper Tip is repositionable and retraction can be achieved hands-free. This is one of the least invasive methods of retraction available to surgeons that allows them more efficient use of their assistant helping in the procedure, improved cosmesis, and no additional port closure time. This device is a less invasive retraction solution for any laparoscopic or robotic procedure.
The AAGL Global Congress on Minimally Invasive Gynecology (held November 17-21) is the pre-eminent meeting for physicians interested in providing optimal patient care through minimally invasive gynecology. More than 1,700 physicians are expected to attend this year’s event from around the world to view the latest innovations and receive up-to-date training and education.
“Minimally invasive gynecologists were early adopters of the company’s entry device, the NovaTract™ and helped lead the way in the development of this additional retraction device, making the AAGL Global Congress a great selection for the company to reveal the NovaGrasp™ Laparoscopic Tethered Grasper,” says NovaTract Surgical, Inc. Chief Executive Officer Eleanor L. Tandler. “We’ve had overwhelmingly positive reception to the simplicity of the NovaGrasp™ and are looking forward to sharing this easy and less invasive technique for retraction.”
NovaTract Surgical, Inc. will have a booth at this week’s conference (Booth #826) where participants can demo both the NovaTract™ Laparoscopic Dynamic Retractor and the new NovaGrasp™ Laparoscopic Tethered Grasper and learn more about incorporating these technologies into their practice.
