Local Double Amputee Athlete Hector Picard Honors Sponsor Novation Settlement Solutions After Making History at Ironman World Championship
West Palm Beach, FL (PRWEB) November 21, 2016 -- After recently making history as the first-ever double arm amputee to finish the grueling Ironman World Championship, local adaptive athlete Hector Picard was proud to honor his sponsor company Novation Settlement Solutions for supporting his ongoing racing, including this latest historic accomplishment.
On November 10, Picard presented Novation Settlement Solutions with a framed plaque of the jersey he wore during last month’s Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii. Novation Settlement Solutions also honored Hector’s remarkable accomplishments at the ceremony by sharing a moving video the company created highlighting Picard’s emotional and historical finish at the Kona Ironman.
Picard not only made history as the first-ever double arm amputee to finish the arduous 140+ mile triathlon, but his race was dedicated to raising crucial funds for sick children at Broward Children’s Center.
Nearly 100 members of Novation’s team attended the town hall-style ceremony held at Novation Settlement Solution’s office in West Palm Beach in recognition of Picard’s record-breaking accomplishment. During the ceremony, Picard provided personal reflections about competing in the strenuous race, and Novation Settlement Solutions President John Marsano spoke about how Hector’s inspiring success story is a testament to the true difference the company makes in the lives of its clients.
“Novation Settlement Solutions is not only committed to giving people second chances, but also to empowering and emboldening exceptional heroes like Hector to break barriers and push through unthinkable limits,” said Marsano. “On behalf of all of us here at Novation, we are extremely proud of Hector’s accomplishments, and his selfless efforts to raise funds for young patients at Broward Children’s Center.”
Picard added: “As the world’s first double arm amputee ever to compete in the Ironman World Championship, I was proud to race on behalf of the kids at Broward Children’s Center – thinking of those inspiring children got me over the finish line. It was also personally important for me to make all of you at Novation proud, as I will always be grateful for the second chance at life and for the support you’ve given to me over the years.”
Novation Settlement Solutions has helped make Picard’s Ironman and 25+ other triathlons this year possible, which all sought to raise funds for BCC. Picard credits Novation for helping him launch his “second chance” at life as a triathlete and motivational speaker following the life-altering accident which led to the loss of his limbs. Picard now also serves as a spokesperson for Novation.
Hector’s racing continues this Saturday, November 26 at the Turkey Triathlon in Coconut Creek, Florida. In December, Picard will become the first double amputee to be inducted into the USA Triathlon Florida Region Hall of Fame, recognized for his athletic abilities, positive impact and remarkable contributions to the sport of triathlon. He has also been accepted to participate in the prestigious Boston Marathon in April 2017.
