The OceanWorks upgraded and refurbished Node Pod #2, the 2nd of 5 nodes originally designed and delivered by OceanWorks International

OceanWorks International has delivered another fully refurbished and upgraded Node Pod to CSnet International, Inc. The Node Pod is a significant piece of CSnet's Offshore Communication Backbone (OCB) ocean observatory, and represents the 2nd unit refurbished by OceanWorks as part of CSnet's planned maintenance cycle. The successful completion of this work is a testament to the communication and cooperation of OceanWorks and CSnet personnel and clearly showcases OceanWorks continued support of the ongoing operation and maintenance of CSnet’s OCB.

CSnet’s OCB subsea infrastructure in the Eastern Mediterranean provides science, government and industry with real time data from sensor installations covering several hundred kilometers. The structure includes five seafloor nodes, deployed at water depths ranging from 1560 to 2280 meters, and originally designed by OceanWorks International in 2010. The delivery of an additional node base in 2013, two node pods in 2013, the refurbishment of a pod in 2014 and now another pod refurbishment clearly demonstrates the ease of upgradability designed into the OCB and allows for the incorporation of improvements throughout its 25 year lifespan.

OceanWorks International is a recognized subsea solution engineering company, providing over 20 years of service to the Oil & Gas, Scientific & Environmental, and Military markets. The continued work on the OCB subsea infrastructure involves design, engineering, analysis, manufacturing, testing, and documentation, along with a close working partnership with CSnet.
