Founder of 1FW Training and One Fit Widow Featured in Shape Magazine
(PRWEB) September 04, 2013 -- Michelle Steinke, founder of the One Fit Widow Foundation and 1FW Training, has been featured in Shape Magazine’s recent article, “16 Fitness Experts Who Used to Be Overweight.”
The article highlights trainers who have transformed their bodies and lives, and offers tips to inspire readers. It features professionals in the fitness industry who understand their clients’ struggles at the deepest level because they have lived it themselves. Michelle, who herself was 206 pounds in 2009, took charge of her health and her future by turning to fitness just weeks before the death of her husband Mitch.
In the article, Michelle says exercising helped her cope with tragedy. “I was happily married to a wonderful man with two beautiful kids and a corporate job, and I was totally miserable,” she says. “At 206 pounds (my heaviest), I realized that I had to make a change for my health and well-being so I committed to an intense exercise program. Eight weeks later, both my husband and my best friend were killed in a tragic plane crash. Instead of giving up, I used exercise as my therapy. I ran a half marathon three months later and then the full San Diego Marathon five months after that.”
Michelle’s vigorous exercise and lifestyle change paid off – she lost 70 pounds. Her transformation inspired her to help others coping with the same struggles. She decided to launch One Fit Widow, where she is able to train people all over the world and work with widows via her foundation to encourage living a full, fit and happy life.
“I have learned that fitness is a game changer regardless of your life struggles. I wanted to help other people discover what I have found – life is more beautiful when you are fit,” Michelle says. “If even one person breaks a sweat today because of our community then I'm satisfied. My quest is to help people find renewal of life through exercise.”
