The Cambridge SoundWorks industrial designers and acoustical engineers worked in tandem to deliver a high fidelity speaker with excellent bass response, yet still light enough to be ultra-portable and loud enough to fill even large rooms. They first designed an enclosure for the OontZ XL that is ultra-rigid, eliminating unwanted resonances, which could otherwise cause distortion in the sound. They utilized the soft curve design first introduced with the OontZ ultra-portable wireless for the front of the speaker alleviating the potential for diffraction problems that are caused by sharp corners. They also incorporated the unique hemispherical design for the rear of the OontZ XL substantially reducing the potential for distortion and vibration that would result from the moving air mass within the enclosure. The acoustical engineers then expertly matched the custom enclosure with two proprietary precision drivers that provide sharp highs and clear mid-range. They implemented a tri-passive radiator design to deliver deep rich bass. The design layout of the three passive radiators has one facing forward and two facing backward serving to further reduce the potential for sound distortion and vibration, especially at the loudest volume.
