To assist providers in complying with new HIPAA regulations, PYA has released two new manuals that will help physicians, hospitals and other entities address more rigorous health information privacy standards.
New rules that require providers to update and address new areas of HIPAA compliance are effective in September 2013. PYA’s HIPAA Advisory Services Privacy Rule and Security Rule manuals are designed to help organizations navigate through the latest wave of regulations created by the HIPAA Omnibus Rule, said Barbara Stahura, a Senior Manager at PYA.

PYA offers three levels of HIPAA Service Membership.
Level 1 includes up to two hours of on-call resource for non-incident or non-specific compliance implementation questions and customized electronic copies of the manuals.
Level 2 and 3 HIPAA services are available for providers with more robust needs and can include:
-Interim compliance officer services
-HIPAA compliance audit (excludes security-risk assessment/technical IT needs)
-On-site evaluation of current HIPAA practices (policies/procedures) and general recommendations for operational compliance (excludes security-risk assessment/technical IT needs)
-On-site overview and initial staff training
-Ongoing call support
-Electronic staff training video
-Review of current training programs and recommended modifications
-Policy and procedure review
