Pauli is an unusual gourd. He lives just outside the magical Italian village of Gotti, where two brothers, Dominic and Donovan, make their home. The boys wake up one crisp, October morning to a most peculiar sound coming from outside their bedroom window. When they leap up to investigate this strange noise, they run past their father, Luis, who is working in the family vineyard, and come to a stop at the family pumpkin patch.
It is there they discover the source of those melodic sounds they heard from their window – Pauli the Musical Pumpkin. Pauli stands out among the other pumpkins in the field, visibly larger than all the rest. The boys jump for joy and run home to tell their mother of the discovery; but mere moments before their arrival, Mamma Gotti had told Luis to pick her the biggest pumpkin in the patch to use for her pumpkin pie.
Will the boys be able to save Pauli from becoming a baked good? Readers will be left in suspense until the fateful end of Guidry’s new children’s tale. More information about Guidry and “Pauli” can be found at her new website.
