Passages Malibu Issues Health Safety Warning Over “Green Rolexes”
Malibu, CA (PRWEB) July 30, 2013 -- The illegal substance ecstasy has enjoyed resurgence in the culture of illicit drugs recently, but startling new developments in the United Kingdom have resulted in the deaths of several young people.
Local police have issued warnings for pills being sold as “green Rolexes.” Forensic analysis has shown that ecstasy pills matching the description of recent reports contain the toxic chemicals PMA and PMMA, in addition the MDMA, better known as ecstasy.
A July 24th story by the BBC reported that “The combination of MDMA and PMA can be particularly hazardous. They have been linked directly to death,” said Detective Inspector Andy Dunlop.
The deaths have been concentrated in the Northern Ireland area, but PMA and PMMA have turned up in police raids in London and other parts of Europe.
“Although they’re sometimes popular, ‘club drugs’ like ecstasy can often contain unforeseen and/or unknown chemicals and should be avoided,” said Pax Prentiss, CEO Passages Addiction Treatment Centers. “Party drugs often become part of a lifestyle that can lead to unsafe behavior. In our experience, any controlled substance can be abused, if the user is dealing with underlying conditions that send them back again and again, seeking to self-medicate. At Passages, we offer our clients the opportunity to confront the underlying issues and chemical imbalances that can drive their dependency on drugs or alcohol.”

About Passages Malibu & Passages Ventura:
Father and son team Chris and Pax Prentiss founded Passages Malibu in 2001. Its second location, Passages Ventura, first opened its doors in 2009. The two alcohol and drug abuse treatment centers offer an alternative to the 12 step/AA model of addiction treatment by utilizing a holistic program that focuses on the underlying issues of substance dependency, rather than attributing addiction to an incurable disease.
Both Passages Malibu and Passages Ventura accept insurance and each have earned the coveted Joint Commission (JCAHO) accreditation, which has only been given to 6% of the nation’s behavioral health treatment programs.
Passages Malibu was named the #1 treatment center in the world by Healthcare Global, one of the "Most Luxurious Places to Dry Out" by Forbes magazine, and the Huffington Post recently acknowledged Passages as a center that “caters to a high-end crowd, with many CEOs, entrepreneurs and high-powered professionals among its clients.”
The co-founders are also authors of an acclaimed series of addiction treatment books, including their groundbreaking, flagship title, The Alcoholism & Addiction Cure.
