Pat Forbis Tells Tale of ‘Ty Tanner and a Bull Named Cranky’
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (PRWEB) October 01, 2014 -- Author Pat Forbis reaches out to readers young and old, showing the importance of setting and achieving goals at any age, in her whimsical new book, “Ty Tanner and a Bull Named Cranky” (published by Trafford Publishing).
Set in Wyoming, the book tells the story of Ty Tanner, a one-time champion bull rider. At his 70th birthday party, Ty has just one wish: “I wish I could ride a mean ol’ bull just one more time.”
Kate, Ty’s wife of 50 years, is aghast at the idea, and the rest of the family agrees with her. Never one to back down from a challenge, Ty heads to the office of the local rodeo headquarters to have a conversation with the rodeo director, his friend Josh Logan.
At first, Josh thinks Ty is crazy to get on a bull at his age, but stubborn Ty makes it obvious that he isn’t going to take no for an answer. He pays the entry fee and becomes a local celebrity overnight when the local television station interviews him for the nightly news.
After more than 30 years away from the rodeo circuit, Ty is set to ride the rodeo’s number-two ranked bull, Cranky. Only one cowboy has completed an 8-second ride on Cranky; the average rider lasts a mere 2.8 seconds. Can Ty meet the challenge, or will Kate’s disapproval and the threat of danger hold him back?
An excerpt from “Ty Tanner and a Bull Named Cranky”:
“Ty chose his words carefully. ‘Katie, where is it written that if a man is lucky enough to reach what society defines as “old” he can no longer fulfill dreams or set goals?’”
