New Book Delivers Personal Stories from Breast Cancer Survivors
Clarion, PA (PRWEB) September 25, 2013 -- Patricia Morgan: “I wrote ‘Mastectomy: From Devastation to Resilience: the Stories of Seven Young Mothers in their Own Words’ (published by AuthorHouse) to share these inspirational stories with as many people as possible. Seven courageous women gave their time, their emotions, and their hearts to tell their uplifting stories. This book is part of their legacies.”
“Mastectomy: From Devastation to Resilience” is a valuable resource for husbands, family members, friends and anyone who cares for – and about – women living through the devastation of mastectomy. Morgan captured the lived experiences of seven young mothers after their mastectomies and breast cancer. Their deeply personal accounts provide insights into issues surrounding their bodies, their sexual behaviors, and their innermost hopes and fears.
An excerpt from page 37, “Mastectomy: From Devastation to Resilience”:
“You’re just thankful for everything. You thank God that you have what you have and you try not to always want more, and be happy with what you have. Not that you don’t want to make things better. Once you have breast cancer or any kind of cancer, you look at things a lot differently. When you’re out in the garden, you appreciate the flowers more, things like that.”
Why this book? Mastectomy survivors will find encouragement by relating to others who found greater meaning in their lives. Loved ones can learn how to be most supportive of breast cancer survivors—to learn about their fears and concerns and about the difficult decisions ahead of them.
