New Storybook Will Take Reader on a Cloud-watching Adventure
Ohio (PRWEB) February 05, 2014 -- The imagination is a powerful thing. In an article published in the Wall Street Journal website, Paul Harris, a development psychologist and professor at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, said, “the imagination is absolutely vital for contemplating reality, not just things we take to be mere fantasy.” The article underscores the importance of the imagination to a child’s cognitive development. As a storyteller and author, Paula Jo (Eberwine) Blubaugh knows the wonders of the imagination. She also knows that there are many ways to encourage children to use it. Her new book “Cloudoscope” will thrill and excite readers’ imaginations as they soar into the great blue yonder in a cloud-watching adventure.
When she was a child, Blubaugh and her father would spend hours looking at clouds and identify pictures that the clouds formed. In “Cloudoscope,” she recreates this scenario with a group of children and grownups who all enjoy gazing up at the sky and watching clouds take wonderful shapes, from animals to airplanes. This book not only promotes activities that require the use of the imagination, it also teaches a subtle lesson on finding joy in simple pleasures, a lesson which Blubaugh learned from her father.
“I was raised to realize that to have true happiness you need to be pleased with the world in which you live. Dad always encouraged me to try to find as many objects that I could identify. I think it is great that Dad showed me that you don’t have to spend money to occupy your time. All you need is an imagination,” she says.
Accompanied by brilliant illustrations and a captivating rhyming narrative, “Cloudoscope” is wonderful storybook that celebrates the wonders of the imagination. It makes for an excellent gift book for parents who want to introduce their young ones the joys of reading.
