Diana S. Duncan shares story of how ‘Pete Goes to School’
HONG KONG (PRWEB) August 03, 2017 -- Diana S. Duncan enjoys writing rhyme and she wanted to write a story with a simple theme about a boy's friendship with his dog. It prompted her to write “Pete Goes to School” (published by Partridge Singapore), the story of a dog who follows his master to boarding school and how he changes the lives of those who live there for the better.
When Tom goes off to boarding school, his dog Pete runs away from home and Tom hears him barking outside his window late at night. The next day, the headmaster says Pete ‘must go.’ But Tom’s formidable mum turns up and persuades him that if Pete is allowed to stay at the school, not only would he make an excellent ‘in house’ dog, but his appointment would also enhance the school’s (and more importantly) the headmaster’s reputation. Of course Mum gets her way and Tom, his schoolmates and Pete in particular, are very happy. For everyone, school life is much easier to bear with a school dog to pat and cuddle.
“The rhyme, the humour and the theme of this book is not always present in other children's books,” Duncan says. “The use of dogs in counseling, schools, hospitals and old people's homes is growing and recent studies show how effective this is.”
The story of “Pete Goes to School” hopes to provide enjoyment, an appreciation of rhyme and an empathy with the main character in the story.
