Michael Podolsky, co-founder of online consumer advocacy website, PissedConsumer.com, will speak at the UnGagged digital marketing UnConvention about the freedom of consumer speech, dealing with negative brand feedback in search engine results, and their effect on businesses.

Michael Podolsky, co-founder of U.S. consumer advocacy and customer complaints website, http://www.PissedConsumer.com, will speak at the UnGagged UnConvention in Las Vegas on November 15th. Podolsky's presentation will cover the freedom of consumer speech and what it means for companies from a branding, marketing, and legal perspective.

The presentation will cover consumer reviews on websites such as PissedConsumer.com and how SEO and marketing firms can address that often-negative content on behalf of their clients. Topics to be discussed include:

  • Illegal SEO tactics and approaches to having negative content de-indexed from search engines, and how those tactics can backfire on companies due to the "Streisand Effect" -- when an attempt to suppress information, such as negative reviews, from the public leads to a backlash and even wider exposure of that information;
  • Ways user-generated content can be protected from "scraping" by third parties -- when that content is automatically harvested and re-published on other web properties;
  • How public consumer speech can affect the brand reputation of clients.
