Police.us.org to Include All Types of Complaints Filed With Law Enforcement
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) July 26, 2013 -- Police.us.org is expanding their services to include any and all instances when police have filed a complaint against someone, the company announced yesterday.
“In the past, our records have always included arrests and convictions,” a Police.us.org spokesman said. “But we've realized that does not tell the whole story. Often police will file a complaint, but it won't lead to a full arrest. Yet that information can be very telling during a background check.”
The company decided to include complaint histories in their reports at the request of their customers, the Police.us.org spokesman said.
“We had to make sure that a complaint filed by a police officer is public information,” the Police.us.org spokesman said. “When we realized that it was, we decided that we owed it to our customers to include the information.”
An example of a police complaint that does not lead to an arrest is when officers respond to a domestic violence situation but the victim is unwilling to press charges, the Police.us.org spokesman said.
“If you are doing a background check on someone for online dating reasons, you'd want to know that complaint history even if he or she was never formally charged,” he said. “Now Police.us.org will provide that information.”
The new complaint information is now live in the Police.us.org searchable database.
“We are ready to go,” he said.
