As one of the largest Portland Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) schools in the Portland area, Northwest Fighting has seen their number of Portland jiu jitsu students rise from humble beginnings to over 500 students.

"I wasn't willing to sacrifice the quality to get more students enrolled, I wanted to provide the best classes and teachers whether we had 50 or 500 students," says Jeff Patterson, owner Northwest Fighting.

Whether looking to get in shape, compete in high level tournaments or become confident that you can protect yourself Jeff Patterson, owner of Northwest Fighting has a class to fit every need. "We're not your average martial arts school. We don't just lump everyone into the same class and hope they get what they want. We're focused on providing a personalized training plan that will help you accomplish your goals," says Portland Brazilian jiu jitsu black belt Jeff Patterson.

Northwest Fighting classes come in all shapes and sizes. The 8,000+ square foot building Northwest Fighting occupies in Portland, Oregon offers Muay Thai classes, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes, Jeet Kune Do training classes, Filipino Arts classes including Kali training, Eskrima training, Tai Chi classes, Qigong classes, kids martial arts classes (Muay Thai, JKD, and Jiu Jitsu), women's kickboxing and bootcamps and many more.

This latest announcement from Northwest Fighting is a goal Patterson has been working towards. "I knew all of the big schools had 500 students enrolled and that was always something I was measuring myself by. The main difference is that I wasn't willing to sacrifice the quality to get more students enrolled, I wanted to provide the best classes and teachers whether we had 50 or 500 students," says Patterson.

Jiu jitsu in Portland has been growing along with Muay Thai classes according to Patterson. "When talking about jiu jitsu, Portland isn't the first place people think of, but our school has trained a lot of great athletes and Portland is quickly becoming a hot-bed of activity in the martial arts arena," says Patterson.
