PropertyHistory.us.org is launching a campaign to create a series of anti-scam information to help potential homeowners, the company said yesterday.
“We believe in doing what we can as a company to help people avoid becoming victims of scam artists,” a PropertyHistory.us.org spokesman said. “That's why we started offering public record real estate reports in the first place. By starting an informational campaign targeting scam artists, we are taking that one step further.”
PropertyHistory.us.org will publish the scam prevention articles on their website as well as through their blog and social media channels, he said.
“For far too long, scam artists have had the advantage over potential home owners,” he said. “Too many people have become victims. But once consumers are educated about how scams work, they will be able to fight back and prevent them.”
The articles will be created with the help of real estate professionals and retired law enforcement, he said.
“We will outline in detail how different real estate scams work, explain what red flags to look for, and then advise homeowners how to handle a situation if they think someone is trying to scam them,” he said. “That will reverse the balance of power and help consumers stay in charge of protecting themselves.”
There will be no additional charge for access to the articles, he said.
