PropertyValueLookup.com is launching a public service initiative to help potential real estate buyers identify legit real estate agents, the company said yesterday.
“The real estate market can be very confusing, particularly for first-time home buyers,” a PropertyValueLookup.com spokesman said. “And that makes them easy prey for scams if they end up with a real estate agent who isn't legit. This initiative should help prevent that problem.”
The Legit Real Estate Agent Initiative is going to be comprehensive, the PropertyValueLookup.com spokesman said.
“We will start out with an education campaign to let people know what to look for in a legit real estate agent,” he said. “It's amazing some of the basic things that people don't know what to look for. For example, some people don't know that legit real estate agents never charge buyers commissions.”
Once PropertyValueLookup.com has completed the education part of the Legit Real Estate Agent Initiative, they will move on to identifying real estate agents who are not legit.
“People will be able to contact PropertyValueLookup.com directly to let us know about real estate agents who are not legit,” he said. “We will check out their claims. Then we will start to build a database of real estate agents who are known to not be legit.”
Those names will be available on the members section of the PropertyValueLookup.com site, he said.
“The goal is not only to save our customers from real estate agents who are not legit, but to also put the non-legit ones out of business,” he said.
