R. Glenn Brown Analyzes Evangelical Doctrines in New Book
Sequim, Wash. (PRWEB) April 29, 2014 -- In “The Truth Seekers” (published by AuthorHouse), author R. Glenn Brown offers a biblical search between two doctrinally divergent Evangelical pastors to showcase the unifying power of scriptural truth.
Divided into two parts, “The Truth Seekers” focuses on the life and works of Pastor Viktor Gorgachuk. The first half of the book follows Gorgachuk’s rocky upbringing in the USSR, which laid the foundation for his Pentecostal faith, to his eventual immigration to the United States.
The second half of the book takes place years later, when Gorgachuk became a respected Pentecostal pastor and was troubled by divisive doctrines within Evangelicalism. Pentecostals believed supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit were active in modern times. Cessationists believed that supernatural gifts had ceased after the completion of the New Testament.
In an effort to reconcile these conflicting beliefs, Gorgachuk and fellow pastor and close friend Bill Ballard, a Cessationist, agree to critically and scripturally examine each other’s doctrine and have an open and honest discussion about their findings. The purpose of their biblical research is not to prove the other wrong, but to discover the real truth of scripture and to respond in obedience even if it leads to a change of position.
By the book’s end, Brown hopes Evangelical Christians, whether Pentecostal or Cessationist, will be led to take scripture seriously and follow biblical truth wherever it leads.
