The Children’s Reading Foundation Celebrating 20 Years of Supporting Literacy and Early Learning Efforts
Kennewick, Wash. (PRWEB) January 05, 2016 -- The Children's Reading Foundation today begins a yearlong 20th anniversary celebration to recognize the collective contributions of the foundation and its partners in communities nationwide to improve children’s literacy, enhance family engagement and educate about the importance of early learning.
The 2016 campaign aims to increase awareness of a child’s vital early learning years of birth to age 8, as well as the essential roles of families, schools and communities to help nurture a child’s learning before they begin school, through daily reading, talking and purposeful play.
“A child’s earliest learning experiences prepare them for all future learning and influence success in school and beyond,” said Rick Donahoe, CEO of The Children’s Reading Foundation. “Our work during the past 20 years with community partners and school districts has helped families be the most effective teachers they can be in their child’s learning from birth through third grade. Together we are raising a nation of readers and preparing children for kindergarten.”
For two decades, the foundation’s message, Read Together 20 Minutes Every Day™, and its school readiness and literacy programs READY! for Kindergarten® and READ Up: Stop the Summer Slide℠, have supported, educated and engaged parents, caregivers, schools and communities in cultivating children’s early learning. These programs teach new skills and helpful tips to nurture a child’s critical brain connections in ways that foster essential early literacy, math and social-emotional skills, to prepare children for school success.
