Kelly Buckley, Author of “Just One Little Thing,” Highlighted in Author Solutions Real Authors, Real Impact Campaign

Buckley is the author of “Just One Little Thing,” released in March 2012.
Buckley, who suffered from the sudden loss of her son in 2009, began writing her story while waiting at the funeral home. She believed something larger than herself propelled her forward to write during such a dark time.
“My book tells the story of my journey, but it is truly a universal message for people looking for a different path through grief,” said Buckley. “Each day I looked for ‘just one little thing’ to be thankful for, no matter how I was hurting. I thought if I could find just one thing, I could hang on to hope in my life. Over the months that passed, each one little thing became a thread that, woven together, served as a ladder out of the darkness of loss and back into the light.”
On the second anniversary of the death of her son, Buckley launched her online community, JOLT, based on finding and giving just one little thing. The group she has created connects thousands of people who are looking for a positive way to shift their perspectives on life, even in the toughest of circumstances. Buckley has created this outlet to encourage people to express just one little thing they are thankful for, share positive news, and use as a safe forum to share information, often reframing people’s perspectives on life.
Since the launch of the JOLT movement, people all around the world are connecting daily to have conversations about life, finding they are more alike than different. Buckley says JOLT is about to hit 99,000 people on Facebook, from 45 countries, speaking over 38 different languages.
“I feel like I am part of something that is much bigger than me,” said Buckley. “Spreading the message of JOLT has become my full-time job. Self-publishing this message has healed me. Each good deed I do for another honors the memory of my son, and that gives me joy.”
