Jackson & Coker, a national physician staffing firm, has opened nominations for its annual Staff Physician Recruiter of the Year Award. Now in its fourth year, the award recognizes in-house physician recruiters for their dedication to improving patient care.

Healthcare administrators, physicians and fellow recruiters are invited to nominate a talented physician recruiter they think deserves recognition. After nominations close on September 18, a committee of experienced physician recruiters will select finalists and one ultimate winner.

Jackson & Coker will be launching the award program during the Association of Staff Physician Recruiters 2015 Annual Conference on May 16-20 in Orlando, Florida.

“We recognize that in-house physician recruiters are often the unsung heroes of healthcare,” said Sandra Garrett, president of Jackson & Coker. “Physician recruiters have a huge impact on ensuring patients have access to the life-saving healthcare they need. The Staff Physician Recruiter of the Year Award is Jackson & Coker’s way to make sure they get the thanks they deserve.”

The award winner will win either an all-expenses paid vacation for two or a donation of equal value made to a charity of his or her choosing.

The 2014 Staff Physician Recruiter of the Year was Robert Hickey of Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group, chosen for his service in helping bring 700 physicians to his organization. After watching a coworker struggle to help her son diagnosed with the rare condition hydrocephalus, Hickey asked Jackson & Coker to donate his winnings to the Hydrocephalus Association to help raise awareness.

The 2014 finalists were: Arlene Macellaro, Augusta Health; Aymee Quinn, Asante Physician Partners; Colleen Powell, Inova Health System; Colleen Schmidt, Ozarks Medical Center; Emily Glaccum, Archbold Medical Center; Ken LeBlanc, Centura Health; Kimberly Salvail, Huntsville Hospital; Michelle Pittelli, McLeod Seacoast Medical Center; and Ron Goodspeed, Exeter Hospital.
