Christenbury Eye Center Creates Red Kettle Matching Challenge to Support Families in Need
Charlotte N.C. (PRWEB) December 10, 2014 -- Christenbury Eye Center created a Salvation Army Red Kettle Matching Challenge to raise funds to support two families in need this holiday season. Donated funds will be matched up to $3,600. This year marks the 10th year the Center has sponsored a family in need of permanent housing. This year's sponsored families include two single mothers, each with two children, currently living in the Salvation Army Center of Hope shelter. Each family will receive funds to cover housing expenses for six months. Dr. Jonathan Christenbury, Medical Director at Christenbury Eye Center, expects to donate and raise a total of $7,200 to support these families in need.
Dr. Christenbury says, "We're blessed to be able to help a family in need at this time of year when the weather changes and families are even more at risk. This year, we decided to create a challenge grant to help an additional family currently living in the shelter."
Inspired by the lives changed by the Salvation Army, Dr. Christenbury continues to support this worthy cause on an annual basis. Recently, Dr. Christenbury was informed about a woman who was helped by Christenbury Eye Center's donation several years ago. The woman emigrated from Nigeria to the U.S, and shortly afterward found herself homeless and a single mother. Now she's back on her feet again, living independently and working full-time at a large department store. She mentioned to the Salvation Army Center of Hope and Christenbury Eye Center that she wanted to thank everyone for helping her and her family. She said she may not have survived the winter without the Center's generosity.
Interested donors should visit the Salvation Army's Red Kettle site for information about this challenge and to make a donation. For more information about Christenbury Eye Center, call (877) 702-2020 or visit the Christenbury Eye Center website and watch our Facebook page for more information.
