Finally, my migraines are under control.

Reed Migraine Centers has announced that Dr. Ken Reed is scheduled to appear on “The Doctors” show this Friday, July 17th, along with a young female patient who has been suffering from debilitating migraine headaches. The Reed Procedure, an advanced migraine treatment option, offers her the potential of finally controlling her headaches.

Dr. Reed expressed his appreciation to “The Doctors” for helping to bring this remarkable new therapy to the attention of those suffering from such debilitating migraines. He further remarked on the over 80% success rate as documented in a recent literature report on a presentation at the International Headache Society’s Boston Congress in 2013. “We published a review of 171 consecutive patients with frequent, severe migraines treated between May 2009 and April 2012, we were very pleased to find that 85% of the patients reported good to excellent results,” said Dr. Reed. “In fact 50% of the patients reported near complete relief from the headaches as the frequency dropped to 1 or less a month.”

The Reed Procedure ®, a migraine treatment technically known as “Combined Occipital and Supraorbital Nerve Stimulation” was first described in a landmark paper published in 2010 in “Cephalalgia,” the Journal of the International Headache Society. Attesting to the significance of his paper, the Society honored Dr. Reed with the prestigious “Cephalalgia Award” for the best original research contribution to the journal that year.

“We were very grateful to the Society for this award, particularly considering the quality of the competition from the top institutions around the world,” said Dr. Reed. “It is always very gratifying to have your colleagues recognize the work that you are doing.”

Reed Migraine Centers partners with top specialists from around the country in making the Reed Procedure available to their patients. Dr. Sukdeb Datta, at the “Laser Spine and Pain Institute” and Professorial Lecturer at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York, emphasized that the migraine treatment procedure actually involves two steps – the first being a test or trial stimulator, which is very reliable in determining whether, and how well, a patient will respond to the actual full neurostimulator implant.

“One of the many nice things about the Reed Procedure ® is that we have the ability to actually test the treatment to indeed make sure that it’s going to work, before we perform the full implant,” said Dr. Datta. “Our patients are of course very pleased with this, as it allows them to know with great confidence just how well the treatment will work before they have the actual full procedure.”

Dr. Kelly Will at the Reed Migraine Centers in Dallas, Tx described the remarkable success rate that he has seen with the migraine treatment procedure and expressed excitement over its future prospects.

“It is very gratifying to finally be able to offer this potentially life-changing therapy to this unfortunate patient group,” said Dr. Will. “Given these highly significant success rates, we are now developing plans for a prospective, multicenter study to further delineate the efficacy of this remarkable procedure.”

Jim Reed, Director of Operations and Physician Services for Reed Migraine Centers, indicated that Dr. Reed is currently holding free patient information webinars for those who would like more information on the Reed Procedure®.

“For those patients who have uncontrolled migraine headaches, I would strongly recommend that they attend one of our webinars and hear Dr. Reed personally discuss the full details of the treatment,” said Mr. Reed. “Patients can find the schedule for the upcoming seminars on our website, where they also can find additional information about the Reed Procedure ®.”
