Retrofit Teams with Girls in the Game to Develop Future Healthy Professionals
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) April 07, 2014 -- Retrofit, the data-driven weight loss company for America’s leading corporations, is teaming with a Chicago-based non-profit organization to teach young adults the importance of sports and nutrition. Retrofit is hosting the April 8th Girls in the Game Leader-to-Leader interview at its Chicago headquarters.
“We are looking forward to having the Retrofit leadership team teach the importance of sports and nutrition,” said a Girls in the Game spokesperson. “Many of our members are interested in careers dealing with health and fitness. The guidance that they receive from the panelists may very well help them in making important choices as they prepare for college and learn about career opportunities they may have never known existed.”
The Teen Squad, consisting of girls in grades 9-12, will visit the Retrofit headquarters at 123 N. Wacker Drive, Suite 1250. The participants, girls of different backgrounds from the north south and west sides of Chicago, will visit for a nutritious lunch, planned activities and an opportunity to interview a panel of Retrofit employees. They will have the opportunity to interview the Retrofit leadership team about professional choices concerning college and careers, while also sharing the challenges they face as teenage girls in Chicago with the panel.
Retrofit VP of Business Development Katie Digan, who helped organize the event, said that since Retrofit provides online weight loss coaching and nutritional counseling to its clients, it makes sense to participate in this teaching opportunity. Her goal is to solidify Retrofit and its social-minded outreach so that it extends into the community, focusing on the development of our future leaders.
“As a young girl I never fully understood the working world or had definitive career goals. Now as an adult, I feel fortunate to have found a career in a field that I am truly passionate about,” said Digan, who points out the synergy of the missions of both organizations. “It’s important for businesswomen to share our stories and work side-by-side with like-minded organizations in our communities to make sure that the future leaders of America’s corporations understand the importance of health, wellness and goal-setting from a young age.”
