In his 2011 science fiction novel “REG” (published by AuthorHouse), which is getting a renewed marketing push in 2013, author Rick Groves has crafted the story of an insignificant man who finds significance in a monumental discovery.
Reg is a quiet, unemployed and unassuming man living in Walford. One day he reads an article on Einstein's Theory of Relativity in a newspaper and discovers a fundamental flaw in the theory. His discovery takes him on a fabulous journey through the universe, through the fabric of time and space itself.
An excerpt from “REG”:
“What do I FIND, I picked up a copy of The Guardian this morning, turned to the children’s page and there, complete with his photograph is an article on this so-called Einstein. Instead of a set of 20-inch biceps and a pair of tight-fitting ex-marine’s trousers is this doddering old codger with grey hair and a stupid moustache. And to cap it all, the heaviest thing he’s ever lifted is a sodding pencil! And he got his bus fare wrong when he was going to the shops! All he ever did was write down bloody sums on the backs of envelopes.
‘It’s annoying me greatly. I suppose that’s why you could say I’m extremely disillusioned.’”
“REG” is a simple tale that offers a good story with engaging characters and reliable science fictional elements such as teleportation. Any reader interested in science, Groves believes, will enjoy it.
