New Book Discusses Life as a Jew in Hungary During WWII
NEW YORK (PRWEB) July 03, 2013 -- In his inspirational new autobiography “My Private War: A Hungarian Jew Looks Back” (published by AuthorHouse), author Robert Winkler offers readers the account of how he survived the Holocaust as a reminder to never give up and remember that all things are possible.
“My Private War” focuses mainly on Winkler’s experiences during World War II. He was a young, Hungarian Jewish man drafted into forced labor and was always trying different escape attempts. He vividly describes the tricks he used to fool the Hungarians and the Germans who would inadvertently shielded him from Hungarian captors. He also recounts the experiences of his best friend, who struggled to survive along with Winkler.
“The key message of my story is to never give up,” Winkler writes. “Despite everything that I went through, it never occurred to us to surrender. We knew that the odds were against us but we wanted to take our luck as far as we could.”
