For author Roger Kohler, there’s nothing like a good laugh. His new memoir, “The Funny Side of Life” (published by Archway Publishing), shares a positive, humorous outlook on life as Kohler reflects on his many misadventures in Australia, Switzerland and the United States.
“The Funny Side of Life” opens in Sydney where Kohler grew up and attended boarding school with a colorful cast of ornery schoolmates. His journey from boyhood to manhood is peppered with amusing memories of shark sightings, police run-ins and a motor trip around Sydney Cove. Through the happiest and most painful memories, Kohler approaches them all with a smile that readers may feel throughout his writing.
Kohler adds, “I enjoy writing and think it is good to have a sense of humor and to laugh.”
An excerpt from “The Funny Side of Life”:
“We had a home in the western suburbs of Sydney, Australia, and the home was on about an acre of land. The backyard had lots of gum trees with large, low branches. My father picked me up and told me to hold on to one of the branches. He left me hanging there while l yelled, ‘Get me down !!!’”
