“We look forward to sharing the important news coming out of the Center on many fronts in the war on cancer,” said Mike Hennessy Jr., president of Intellisphere Oncology and Healthcare Specialty Group, MJH.

OncLive® has added the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center to its Strategic Alliance Partnership program, the company announced today. Under the terms of the new partnership, OncLive’s editorial and marketing teams will share news coming out of the many programs run by the cancer center, including its groundbreaking cancer research efforts and unique supportive care services.

The Center’s research efforts include laboratory work on cancer stem cells, genetics and other biomarkers that hold the promise of new targets to treat or detect cancer more precisely. Researchers collaborate closely with clinicians to translate findings into clinical practices and bring new options to patients through clinical trials.

The Symptom Management and Supportive Care Program offers additional specialty support for patients dealing with cancer- or treatment-related side effects. Services include pain management, nutrition counseling, medication management and physical and occupational therapy. The Patient and Family Support Services Program focuses on the emotional impact cancer has on a patient and family. A team of doctors and nurses, as well as specialists focused on psychiatry, art therapy, social services and even finances, helps patients throughout their treatment.

“The University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center is notable for a variety of innovative programs,” said Mike Hennessy Jr., president of Intellisphere Oncology and Healthcare Specialty Group, part of the Plainsboro, N.J.-based Michael J. Hennessy Associates, Inc. (MJH), family of businesses. “We look forward to sharing the important news coming out of the Center on many fronts in the war on cancer.”

“We’re proud of and excited about the work we do in research, patient care and education, as well as community outreach,” said Dr. Theodore Lawrence, director of the cancer center. “And we’re happy to join with OncLive to share the discoveries and advances we’re making to improve the lives of cancer patients and their families.”

The University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center joins more than 55 other leading cancer centers, nursing schools and physician groups around the country in partnering with OncLive.

Hennessy added, “The Strategic Alliance Partnership program serves everyone committed to fighting cancer. When we work together and share our knowledge broadly, we are better armed to improve our efforts to overcome this devastating disease.”
