STX Signs with NHL players Miller, McQuaid, Martin, McDonald, Thornton and Trocheck

As we continue to expand our presence in the NHL and beyond, elite-level athletes everywhere are making the conscious choice to use STX Hockey equipment.

Baltimore-based STX, LLC, a global sporting goods leader, has signed National Hockey League (NHL) athletes J.T. Miller, Adam McQuaid, Matt Martin, Colin McDonald, Shawn Thornton and Vincent Trocheck. All six players have signed multi-year deals and will compete with STX equipment.

The addition of the six athletes will help drive brand awareness as STX continues to expand its ice hockey line, including the recent launch of the completely redesigned Stallion 600 stick. Each player will be involved with product development and on-ice feedback, as well as appearances at STX sponsored events.

“We are proud to announce these new NHL player partnerships” said Matt Hoppe, Senior Global Brand Manager at STX. “As we continue to expand our presence in the NHL and beyond, elite-level athletes everywhere are making the conscious choice to use STX Hockey equipment and that validates the high-performance nature of our products.”

About the NHL Athletes:

  •     J.T. Miller, Center, New York Rangers

The Rangers selected Miller in the first round, 15th overall, in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Miller also represented Team USA, which won the gold medal, in the 2013 World Junior Championship.

  •     Adam McQuaid, Defenseman, Boston Bruins

McQuaid was drafted in the second round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft and joined the Bruins for the 2009-10 season. He was a member of the 2011 Stanley Cup Champion team. This year, McQuaid signed a four-year contract extension with the team.

  •     Matt Martin, Left Wing, New York Islanders

Martin was selected by the Islanders in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He currently holds the NHL record for most hits in a single season, with 382 in the 2014-15 season, and has led the league in hits four years in a row.

  •     Colin McDonald, Right Wing, Philadelphia Flyers

McDonald recently signed a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Flyers after playing with the New York Islanders, Pittsburgh Penguins and Edmonton Oilers. In 2014, he was a member of the U.S. Men’s National Team in the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Men’s World Championship.

  •     Shawn Thornton, Right Wing, Florida Panthers

Thornton joined the Panthers for the 2014-15 season after playing for the Boston Bruins, Anaheim Ducks and the Chicago Blackhawks. Thornton was drafted in 1997 by the Toronto Maple Leafs.

  •     Vincent Trocheck, Center, Florida Panthers

Trocheck was drafted by the Panthers in 2011 and joined the team for the 2013-14 season. In 2013, he played for Team USA and took gold in the World Junior Championships.

“Partnering with STX was a natural fit for my needs as a player,” said Martin. “Their commitment to technology is second to none. As soon as I tested an STX stick I knew it would be the best equipment to compete with for the upcoming season.”

The newest roster additions will join athletes including Matt Moulson (Buffalo Sabres), Jiri Hudler (Calgary Flames), Brandon Pirri (Florida Panthers), Charlie Coyle (Minnesota Wild) and Reid Boucher (New Jersey Devils) to represent the brand in the NHL.
