Salud! Oregon Pinot Noir Wine Auction Raises $710,000
Hillsboro, Oregon (PRWEB) November 15, 2013 -- Salud!, The Oregon Pinot Noir Wine Auction, raised $710,000 from the two-day event, held November 8 and 9, 2013. Other contributing fundraising initiatives brought this year’s project total to $900,000 and over $10 million since its inception. The Salud! program is supported by the Oregon wine community and Tuality Healthcare to provide Oregon’s seasonal vineyard workers and their families with access to healthcare services.
Friday’s special Tasting and Big Board Auction at Domain Drouhin Oregon set the pace, raising a record amount for limited cases of exclusive 2012 Oregon Pinot Noirs crafted by 43 top wine producers who comprise the Vintners Circle.
Spurred on by lead gifts from the Erath Family Foundation and Willamette Valley Vineyards, Saturday’s auction guests pledged generously at the Special Appeal to support a new mobile wellness clinic. The vehicle will be built to specifications set by the clinical staff to allow better access to vineyards and wineries. It will be owned by Salud! and Tuality Healthcare, saving the program over $30,000 annually by reducing dependence on contract services from outside providers.
Salud! Services Manager, Leda Garside RN thanked supporters: “Your generosity goes a very long way to provide services which would otherwise be out of reach for thousands of people. On their behalf, I thank you for championing Salud! and for recognizing their contributions to our great Oregon wines.”
The mission supports workers who cannot receive health insurance benefits due to the brevity of employment with any one winery or vineyard. In 2012, 4,009 workers and family members registered in the program, and over 7,400 medical and dental encounters were documented. Through Salud! workers receive access to primary care, health education, screenings, dental care, assistance with medical paperwork and more.
The 2014 benefit will be held November 14 and 15.
